A quick blog today on broadband and the speed that is promised, yet hardly delivered.
OK, it isn’t quite a promised, but if one doesn’t look too closely, the idea of expecting something like 8mb and actually only getting 1mb due to factors such as distance from the telephone exchange, electrical interference etc can be a particular pain.
Something that has come to my attention of late is BT’s, ‘The iPlate.’ This will help reduce electrical interference and can be fitted into the master socket at home.
So, if being too far from the telephone exchange is not the issue, maybe other electrical devices in the area are causing substantial drops in broadband speeds.
The cost of the device is being touted at around £10, but it will more than likely be given away free by ISP’s to customers experiencing connection speed type issues.
Just something else to think about!
