With today being the birthday of a man who has the shown outstanding integrity through a momentous 90 years, all that is left to say is, “Happy Birthday, Nelson Mandela!”

On the technical front, an area of interest lays in future technologies.  My feeling is that after the amazing 3D experience of watching U2 in the cinema, the next few years will see rapid development in bringing 3D to the TV.   After that, it is almost certain that one will be having a 3D experience on the home/workplace computer screen.

Feel free to advise on any development in the 3D home/workplace computer area….I would love to hear details.

I was fortunate enough to watch the U2 3D concert today….in the CINEMA!

Of course 3D has been around for some time, but this was something completely different. In that, I believe that in 3 years time, almost all cinematic releases will be 3D. I would go even further than that and predict that this will move into the home and people will actually be experiencing 3D’s amazing experience from the comfort of their own sofas!….although, this will take a little longer to put together.

So, back to the U2 3D concert. It was not like the stereotypical image of retro glasses seen way back in the 80’s (although, I must confess to having a soft spot for those retro glasses), it was more like Elvis Costello type glasses, and everyone was wearing them!

Once the 3D concert started, the effect was truly amazing! Imagine feeling like you are standing next to the EDGE while he amazes everyone with an almost unparalleled sound, or standing next to BONO while he sings with amazing passion to the crowd, or actually being in the crowd…..well, this U2 3D concert was just that. It has to be experienced to be believed, but once this has been tasted, I am sure all will know what I mean.

The future is here and being part of cinematic experiences as if in the actual film, concerts, documentaries etc. etc. is definitely here to stay.
